car & motorcycle accidents
Car accidents happen every day all over the country and can range from small fender bender to a major impact accident that causes catastrophic injuries. If you have been in an accident, do not hesitate to consult with an attorney to see if you would be entitled to compensation.
As with Car accidents, Motorcycle accidents happen every day and often result in severe injuries to those riding motorcycles due to their exposure to other vehicles and the ground. It is important to consult with someone who has experience riding motorcycles or handling motorcycle cases as there are many nuances to riding that can alter liability decisions by adjusters.
Important note: It is critically important to have car/motorcycle insurance because if you are in an accident and do not have valid insurance, your ability to recover damages is limited by legislation commonly referred to as: Proposition 213. This statute means that if you do not have insurance you are barred from recovery for damages related to your pain and suffering.
Is your Car/Motorcycle Insurance Adequate?
When you are in a car/motorcycle accident the insurance companies are contacted and begin investigating. In California the minimum insurance you can have is $15,000.00 per person injured but not to exceed $30,000.00 total per accident. If the person that caused the accident has a minimum policy then, this means that if you are badly hurt, ride an ambulance to the hospital and require surgery then most of that $15,000.00 will go to reimburse your medical insurance or MediCal/MediCare. To protect yourself make sure you have liability limits above the minimum AND that you have Underinsured/uninsured coverage limits that match your liability limits. This is the only way to ensure that you’re are truly covered and protected.
